In the episode, they discuss an article they recently co-authored in the Michigan Journal of Gender and Law entitled “Gentlewoman of the Jury”. They provide an overview of the paper, including: a historical background of women’s participation on the jury, the effects of jurors’ gender on their attitudes and verdicts in criminal and civil cases, the unique perspective and experience that nonbinary and gender-nonconforming individuals bring to the jury, and the role of juror gender during voir dire and deliberation.
